EMERGENCIES
There is always a duty doctor available to handle medical emergencies and they
can be contacted by telephoning the surgery.
ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT - KENT AND SUSSEX HOSPITAL
Patients with minor injuries (eg skin laceration, twisted ankle) may go directly
to the A & E department within 48 hours of the injury occurring. In the case
of major injuries an ambulance should be called by dialling 999. If you have an
urgent medical problem, you should generally call your GP in the first instance.
DATA PROTECTION ACT
Our practice is fully computerised and we are registered under the Data Protection Act.
STAFF PROTECTION
A zero tolerance policy towards violent, threatening and abusive behaviour is
now in place throughout the National Health Service.
The staff in this practice have the right to do their work in an environment free
from such behaviour and everything will be done to
protect that right. At no time will any violent, threatening or abusive behaviour
be tolerated in this practice. If you do not respect the rights of our staff we
may choose to inform the police and make arrangements for you to be removed from
our medical list.
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION - PUBLICATION SCHEME
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication
Scheme is a guide to the ‘classes’ of information the practice intends to routinely make available.
This scheme is available from reception.
INFORMATION SHARING
The practice complies with the Data Protection and Access to Medical Records legislation. Identifiable information about you will be shared with others in the following circumstances:
To enable provision of further medical treatment for you eg by district nurses and hospital services.
The Freedom of Information Act aims to increase openness and accountability for information held by public authorities. At Rusthall Medical Centre we are obliged to help anyone who proposes to make a request for information. We will handle written requests within 20 days. There may be a charge for this request. There will be a maximum limit on fees to patients.
To help you access other services eg reports for insurance companies or solicitors. This will need your written consent and you have the right to see any report before it is forwarded to a third party.
When we have a duty to others eg with child protection issues.
Anonymised patient information will also be used at local and national level to help the Department of Health and the government to plan services. If you do not wish information about you to be used in this way please let us know
